7"SPOT KIT

  1. Select a mounting location that will give you a maximum beam, adjustable range and will not cause any obstruction for your minis normal operation.
  2. Mark the mounting position of the light units onto the surface you may either upright mount or invert the lights.
  3. Attach the light units by securing the mounting bracket with the supplied screws. If the mounting screws are not accessable with the whole lighting unit on, then disassemble the mounting bracket from the light and then mount the bracket without the lamp to the mounting surface. Then just reinstall the lamp in the mounting bracket. Do not tighten the screws.

HEADLINING

To fit the new headliner you will need to remove windscreen, rear window, rear quarter lights, inerior lights, inside mirror and the draught excluder around the door apertures.

It is best to do it on a warm day or in a warm garage

Having removed all the necessary parts you can then remove the old headliner. You will see the headlining is glued over the lips of the body, remove the two 'C' post trim panels between the rear quarter light and the rear window . Gradually peel away the material from the edges all around the roof cavity. You will then find that the headlining is held in the roof by six hoops with caps on each end, which insert in the holes above the cant rails. Once the headlining is free you will be able to spring these hoops away from the body.

Note that each hoop has a different coloured cap on the end. These hoops need to be fitted into the new liner in the same sequence.

Always take note when removing the old liner of how the metal hoop fitting is in place in the loops and where the headlining is cut away.

This is so that when you tension the material across the car the lining curves away from the metal hoop when it is glued to the lip.

To get the correct position of these cut outs, fold the old ling in half at each loop position to identify the centre of the lining. Then measure the distance from the middle mark to the top trimmed edge of the loop. Mark each loop in the same way. Make corresponding marks on the new liner and cut away the material making sure not to cut through any machine stitching line as this can cause the stitching to come undone.

FITTING

  1. First insert the metal hoops into the lining (you may need to sand the ends so that tthey sip in more easily) Centralise all the hoops in the lining.
  2. Starting at the centre of the car insert the hoops in the cant rail.
  3. Pull the front lining towards the windscreen tension and then clip to the metal lip of the aperture, do the same to the rear window you should now have tension from the front and the back.
  4. Now clip the sides between the stitching lines to the body increasing the tension all the way.
  5. Apply contact adhesive to the underside of the material and to the lip of the roof working a small area at a time allowing the glue to go tacky and pulling firmly into place tensioning as you go pulling out any wrinkles.
  6. Wrinkles and creases acquired during storage and transport will disapear a few days after installing.
  7. Carefully trim off excess material and stick any loose pieces of material down at the rear window fit in the side posts and you can the refit all windows etc to finish the job.
